Arsenal Interested Mexes

LONDON - Arsenal was reported Caughtoffside after Roma defender Philippe Mexes, to overcome the absence of defender Thomas Vermaelen and Laurent Koscielny due to injury.

According to reports in the UK, Mexes is not the main target of Arsenal. They previously reported wanting Werder Bremen defender Per Mertesacker, and Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill. However, both players are considered important by their clubs and not opened the door to move.

Different from that, Roma seemed to open the exit for Mexes. At least, that's visible from a club statement said it was not interested in extending the contract Mexes, who finished the end of this season. Unless want to lose Mexes without any compensation, Rome did not have another opportunity to sell in addition to this second transfer window.

Apart from Arsenal, Chelsea and AC Milan also called wanting Mexes. While Chelsea called the need for layering Mexes injured defender Alex, Milan is said to require Mexes to anticipate the possibility of Alessandro Nesta, who may be retiring the end of this season.
